How to live in the present?

It is a well known fact that we are unhappy because we just cannot live in present. Most of the time our mind is hovering either in the thoughts involving our past failures and unhappiness or we are thinking about future and getting some sort of fear of unknown. Scientists have stated that 90% of our life time is spent in thinking about either our past or worrying about future. Don’t you think that this time should be reduced for a better and happier life i.e. living in present which is always easier. It is purely in our hands and no other person can help us anyway because he cannot read our mind or process it in order to make us positive and happy. Well, you may have read many spiritual books or motivational books but if following them would be so easy everyone on the earth would have been relaxed and be able to live in present all the time but in practice it is not easy for a common man. Then how can one reduce tensions and depressed mood? Read the rest of this entry »

Boost The Immune System With Cats Claw

Because there are so many kinds of cat’s claw supplements, such as: cat’s claw leaves, cat’s claw bark, and cat’s claw twigs, cat’s claw is one of the most confusing nutritional supplements currently available in health food stores. Although all cat’s claw supplements claim to help the immune system, only the root of Uncaria tomentosa gives the true health benefits by possessing the healing power to treat and prevent diseases such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, degenerative diseases, and also providing anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-microbial benefits. However, only those Uncaria tomentosa roots that contain “good spirits,” seen by Ashaninka healers of the Ashaninka tribe contain healing properties. If these good spirits are mixed with any root that does not contain good spirits, the healing power is lost. With the use of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), scientists can now see the “good spirits” too. These good spirits are actually medicinal compounds called pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs). Read the rest of this entry »

Select Weight Loss Friendly Foods while Dining Out

The average American eats 2 out of 3 meals away from their homes. This is easy to believe with the busy lifestyles many families lead. You don’t have to choose between weight-loss and eating out. Many restaurants are changing their menus to suit weight-conscious Americans.

Plan your evening eating out ahead of time so you can prepare your body. Banking calories is an easy way to avoid weight gain. Simply cut calories in the meals prior to dining out, so you can afford to eat a little more. However, keep in mind that banking calories are about cutting back, not cutting out completely. Some people skip meals throughout the day so they can stuff themselves at the restaurant. They often end up eating more than if they had eating 2 small meals prior to a sensible dinner out. You’ve Heard All The Hype but Does Hoodia Work?

Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus-like plant found in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. The San tribe have been eating the hoodia gordonii plant for centuries to stave off hunger during hunting trips. Just a small piece of the plant acts as a powerful appetite suppressant. It’s all natural and so far doesn’t have any side effects. It sounds like the perfect diet pill, but does hoodia work?

To answer the question we need to understand what hoodia does once it’s ingested. In theory, hoodia works by tricking the brain, specifically the hypothalamus, into thinking you have consumed large amounts of food. As a result, the brain tells you that you are full. The active ingredient in hoodia, P57, is responsible for this trick.

When you eat, the food in your body is broken down into sugar. When the sensors in the hypothalamus recognize the sugar in your body, it shuts down your desire to eat. P57 is 10,000 more powerful than blood sugar (glucose). Without eating any food, P57 can trick your brain into thinking you have consumed large amounts of food when in fact you haven’t eaten a thing!
